Dutch political support for the blending obligation

During a recent debate in the Ministry of Economic Affairs (focused on Climate and Green Growth), Members of Parliament Silvio Erkens (VVD) and Henk Vermeer (BBB) introduced a pivotal motion concerning the Blending Obligation (BMV).

The motion calls on the government to expedite parliamentary discussions to ensure the legislation is implemented by January 1, 2026. It also proposes extending the BMV until 2040, subject to research confirming its effectiveness as a policy instrument. Additionally, the motion highlights the importanceof reviewing and potentially adjusting the blending percentage after 2030.

This motion received broad support in Parliament, reflecting its acknowledged importance to the sector.
